Bottom Bouncers
Bottom bouncers are comprised of an L shaped wire with a lead weight in the middle of one of the wires and are designed to keep the bait on or near the bottom without snagging. They are usually fished with a spinner rig tied onto one of the wire arms as a leader. Bottom bouncers are used for both drift fishing and trolling.
The most common sizes of bottom bouncers range from 1 to 2 oz in size. These weights allow walleye anglers to troll in depths from 5 to 20 feet. A good rule of thumb is 1 oz for every 10 feet of depth. Bottom bouncers are typically fished at slow speeds of 1 to 2 mph using spinner rigs or slow death rigs.
